How Fast Update [03/12/2008]
Apologies for the lack of updates to this site and to How Fast.
I’d been looking into a number of ways to improve the accuracy of the speedometer within How Fast, but knowing that Apple were planning to add direct hooks for this in iPhone OS 2.2 made it difficult for me to invest too much time in this. Of course, these updates actually took far longer than I anticipated to be officially released.
So what will be included in the next version...?
- Improved Icon

- Updated graphics & features:
- GPS Signal Strength Meter
- GPS Accuracy distance
- Trip Counter & Trip Reset - show how far you’ve travelled.
- More Configuration Options:
- Unit Selection - mph, km/h, m/s
- Maximum Speed - increase (e.g. for trains or planes) or decrease (e.g. for walking, running) the default 90mph limit
- Prevent iPhone from sleeping - so you don’t need to keep looking down and poking it whilst driving..
I’ll be submitting this within the next week so fingers crossed it will be available shortly.
Other Applications and How Fast Updates.. [24/08/2008]
We are busy working upon new applications which should be ready for release within the next two months. More information will be posted about these products nearer the time.
However, in the meantime we will be releasing the first updates to How Fast shortly. Thank you to everybody for providing feedback so far.
The next version will contain the following additions:
- Signal Strength - Easily see the accuracy of the GPS signal
- Unit Selection - First run you’ll be asked to select km/h or mph as your units, to override this selection see the settings pages
- Configurable Maximum Speed - The default value will still be 90mph, however you will have the option of setting the maximum, either higher, or lower.
